Help... cannot clear serach window in Win 2000...!
I was planning to save an old hard drive with Win 2000 system on it to archive of some data. For security, I decided to delete any files that might have my SS number in them. So I used the Windows SEARCH program to find them, and deleted them. Then I did another search to confirm all were gone. Yep, no trace of those files -- all seemed to work just fine...
THEN... I happened to notice that every time I entered the first digit of my SS number into the SEARCH window, a drop-down window popped up with the entire SS number... SO NOW IT'S EVEN LESS SECURE THAN BEFORE I STARTED... ! This apparently is saved FOREVER, as I powered down the machine and it's still there on re-start....!
Anybody know how to clear that window...? Is it hidden in a file on the hard disk, or perhaps even in CMOS or somewhere on the motherboard...?
Thanks...!

Try CCleaner: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner. It cleans the windows search tool and supports Windows 2000.
