Microsoft Update hangs up...

Postby bearrfoot on Sat Jun 30, 2012 8:34 pm

Hello,
Here's a list of the failed updates I've attempted to load on my system via Windows Update:

Windows XP Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86 Saturday, June 30, 2012 Microsoft Update

Windows XP Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB2656352) Sunday, January 08, 2012 Microsoft Update

Windows XP Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008 x86 (KB2656351) Sunday, January 08, 2012 Microsoft Update Windows XP

At this time, the update process hangs up with 35 un-installed "high priority" updates pending, which apparently will not install until the failed one(s) are installed, so my machine now seems totally un-updateble...!

Here is my system info:

I may have found a possible solution on this website:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archiv ... 04493.aspx

However, it appears more complex than anything I've ever attempted before, so I'm reluctant to try it.

FWIW, according to the Add/Remove Programs listing, I have .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, 3.5 SP1, and 4 Client Profile loaded on the system.

Thanks for any suggestions...!
