I am, after many years, renewing my interest in soccer.
What a great Seattle team. Fantastic attendance.

I am a bit confused about the playoffs. I think I understand the MLS thing as I understand last I read that Seattle FCis a possible 2nd seed.

But somebody please tell me about the other strata of playoffs or are they play offs or is strata a poor word.
What is CONCACAF?

As you can see I need a lot of work in catching up with the game.

Alright, Seattle is actually a no.3 seed after they lost last night in the final regular season game. This is how the playoff system works, since Seattle is a no.3 seed, they will host the first game of the quarterfinal which is this friday against Real Salt Lake who are a no.2 seed. Then the second game will be played at Salt Lake next Thursday November 8th. Now, the score of the first game will carry onto the second game. So let's say the Sounders win 2-1 in the first game, if the second game in Salt Lake finishes tied after 90 minutes, then Seattle would advance to the next round. I hope that's finally going to be the case, I don't care how they do it as long as they pull it out. Two of the past three early round exits were a bit unlucky in my opinion. This team is well over due to advance in the MLS Cup playoffs.

CONCACAF is the The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football. They're in charge of organizing competitions for national teams and clubs and also conduct World Cup qualifying and Olympic qualifying matches within the region.
