Another update with an explanation about the nurse-mare deal. I had no idea how this works: Rachel's foal won't be returned to her. Rachel, herself, was rejected by her mother and raised by a nurse mare. This nurse mare's foal was delivered on Wednesday and will be hand raised.

Would really like to see her return to full health. Isn't it amazing how such large, strong animals can be so delicate?

Did you see that an animal group asked the owner to retire the mare from breeding? This story mentions that she had another procedure last week:
