Hi Alan, I have questions:
Is this spreader for raw manure or already composted manure? Will raw manure burn the pasture?
Is the driving speed for spreading comparable to the traditional manure spreaders or does it have to be much slower?
I like the idea of the fines instead of the traditional clumps.
Can this be applied year round to avoid storing manure or is it to be spread at the traditional times of the year?

We looked at those when we were looking for something to spread our composted manure on the pasture. At that time they didn't build one large enough for our tractor loader, so we went with a "standard" manure spreader. The larger ES77X may be large enough but they don't list the loading door size so I don't know.

The concept is good, it would break up the manure or compost before dropping it on the pasture. It just didn't fit our loader, and I didn't want to shovel it into the thing by hand.

was looking at the small one for me but was wondering how to load it without spreading poo from paddock to paddock then getting it to spread where I want.

Any spreader should be able to handle raw manure or compost.
The driving speed would be the same, less than 5 miles per hour.
Ideally you would not spread manure or compost in Nov and Dec. You lose the benefits by having it washed off the soil and risk polluting streams.
Remember that composted manure and bedding is an asset that you want to take advantage and not treat it like a liability that you're trying to get rid off.

Easygoing: I'm not sure about the opening to load the spreader either. I hope to take a look at one in person this week.

Horsepeople2001: I think the drum of the spreader is rotated when it comes in contact with the front tires. It looks to me that the barrel is suspended above the wheels and a lever drops the drum down onto the wheels when you're ready to spread.

I was thinking that too. but really would like to see one in person, need to see more than a video and pictures of one. boils down to quality of the welds and workmanship that you can't see in pictures.

Another concern with the unit is the drums ability to handle having a loader full of manure/compost dropped into it. If the metal is thin, it could deform preventing it from working correctly. This unit looks like the walk down the isle load it up from the stalls with a fork and go out and spread it. That's just not how we manage our manure.
