Getting off-road access for horses
If horses in England have only access to 22 percent of the trail systems, I imagine the percent in the U.S. is even lower. Anyone been involved with getting equestrian access?
From HorseTalk:
"Mark Weston, BHS Director of Access, Safety and Welfare, said: “It is a continuing travesty that horse riders have access to only 22 percent of the rights of way network and carriage drivers to only five percent. The proposals in this document would help to redress this unjustifiable imbalance.

Re: Getting off-road access for horses
there are local, national and state level equestrian groups keeping fingers in the political circuit to keep trails open to equestrians and to open more trails at every level. back country horsemen of America does good things in this area so does other groups both local and national. like the trail conservancy group. the local bch chapters in each state deal with that states government and other agency's such as dept of natural resources, to find out more of what they do you can contact back country horsemen of Washington.
