Re: Is anyone riding, working their horse?
Drafthand, I hope the private party in Madison Park goes/went well. How do the horses do in the big city?

Kriss, Glad to hear you got out in the snow! How nice of you to keep an eye on the neighbors' horses. I didn't recall that Ricky came from there. Didn't they have a relative of Ricky's you were considering awhile back? Sounds like they must have really nice horses. What a shame they don't take better care but they're lucky to have good neighbors.

The rides in Seattle went very well. There were a ton of kids at this party and the team just "ate up" the attention! Our horses are real schmoozers. The traffic can be problematical, but we take that as a mild form of entertainment. The team loves to perform. We aim for the very expensive cars because their drivers get out of there in a hurry. Kinda fun to out nose prints on rear windows. Some people are "lost" when they see the outfit--their jaws hang open almost to the first shirt button. I have confused lots of people with this outfit--have to keep people guessing.

I really like Ricky and almost bought his full sister when she came up for sale a month ago. She was snapped up within an hour of being advertised though and I missed her. I didn't even have to see the pedigree to know who she was because she is a carbon copy of Ricky, and I would have loved to have her.
I hate that the horses are not better taken care of so we will keep an eye on them this winter. I wish that they even cared that we take care of them, but I don't think they do. I think their opinion is that the wild ones survive somehow, and so will these horses. Animal control has been called, but as long as the horses are in good body condition and there is food on the place, there is nothing they can legally do. So frustrating that the animals need to be on deaths door before the law can step in.

Drafthand, You're funny! Sounds like you and The Team should be in the movies.

Re: Is anyone riding, working their horse?
I was on a pretty good riding streak for a while until it started freezing at night. Then I kinda wimped out in the mornings and didn't ride for a week. Finally got out today. We came across a family with a large baby stroller full of kids. That kinda blew Joe's mind and he started backing up. But I was so proud of him that we were able to get our wits back and move forward. The family seemed unfamiliar with horses and amused and perplexed by Joe's behavior. I would have talked with them but was just trying to focus on going forward and staying calm.

Re: Is anyone riding, working their horse?
Yesterday it was 23, but we got out for a short ride. A couple friends came over so I was able to take Bug out for the first time in 4 or 5 months and he did great! I think I have about 10 or 12 rides on him now and i'm pretty excited about the weather getting better so we can start moving forward with his training. We did have a quick, tense moment down the road when the mini donkeys went off - both Bug and Killer were a bit concerned about the odd noise, but quickly moved on. Funny, they aren't afraid of a snow scraper or a log truck, but a donkey caused a bit of concern

That is funny about the donkeys, Casey has no fear of tractors or logging trucks but donkeys are still scary to him although he is better about them.

all mine are used to donkeys of all sizes and pigs, need to find some one with an alpaca and an emu that I can borrow for a week or 2 and let my horses see those things up close.
