Sorry about the whining. Thanks for listening...

Right now I would love a significant rain fall to wash away the snow so I can get into my horse paddocks so I can clean their stalls. Can't get the gates open or the quad, wheel barrows into the stall areas to clean them currently. can barely get food/water to them through the snow.

This morning it is 10 degrees outside, and we still have an accumulation of about 8 - 10" of snow on the ground. I'm waiting for the horses to finish their breakfast, then we are going to head out for a short, snowy ride :D

Wow Kriss, I thought it had been cold here! It has been pretty cold, low 20's and a strong east wind for days. Today is the first day it hasn't blown in a week! Did you get your ride in?

It hasn't been over 20 here in nearly three weeks. The horses came in this morning with their whiskers covered in frost. I did get a ride in last weekend, and we might ride today. A friends daughter has her heart set on buying Annie - so we are going to go for a ride and see if we can work out a deal. With any luck by the time they get here at noon it may have warmed up a bit

Wow, you have really been hit with the cold! It has been raining steady for almost 24hrs here but finally had a let up late this afternoon. It is supposed to snow later this week.
Were you able to get your ride with the friends daughter? If so how did she and Annie get along?

Yesterday it was 23, today it was 46 and it rained. The chickens finally went outside for the first time in 3 weeks :) I took the friends daughter out and this was the 3rd time she has ridden Annie. She has her heart set on taking the horse home, but her dad doesn't want to pay a fraction of what the horse is worth (he has 2 small airplanes, snowmobiles, and a couple really expensive bicycles, so being able to pay isn't the issue). Instead, her mom and I discussed a 1 year lease, and they are going to talk about it and get back to me. It is such a good fit, and Annie will be such a good first horse for her that I would really like for her to have her (truth is, I don't really want to sell her, but the kid wants her so bad and I remember when I was that age...), so I think that is the route we are going to take for now. It will certainly force me to focus on Bug and Lucy, because I won't have anything to ride if Annie leaves

At least the fog lifted this morning but the ground is still frozen and icy. Looks like we might have one more night of freezing temps before the rain returns. It's been 2 weeks since I could ride because of the ground conditions.

Ha! I was wrong about the weather. It turned out to get foggy later and colder. Cody is probably enjoying his vacation.

I am sure Cody thinks this is great! My boys have not minded the cold and of course the ground has been frozen for a couple of weeks. I have been really sick for over a week and the hubby had to go out and take care of the animals including cleaning the paddock with frozen manure, not fun but better than mud!
Today it is 13degrees warmer and rain is expected but the faucets are working again-hurray!
