Relocating from WI to WA

Postby ShortHorse on Sat Oct 27, 2012 7:36 am

Hello!

My boyfriend and I are looking to relocate to Washington state, and probably to the Olympia area, although I'm looking for the best area for us with regard to horse facilities, a place for my photography studio, and a job for my boyfriend (most likely in the city). I’m wondering if you could point me to some resources for boarding stables. We’re looking for a place that has an indoor, qualified staff (our current barn is owned by long-time cow people, and they don’t always understand the ins and outs of taking care of horses), possibilities for both Dressage and jumping (we’re not upper level, but we do take our riding fairly seriously), not too fancy, and, last but not least, an area where a horse photographer such as myself might be able to make a living doing what I do best. That’s not too much to ask, right? :)

I’d like to become involved in some of the area associations; I’m currently a Chapter Rep for our local Wisconsin Dressage and CT association (http://www.wdcta.org), and might like to serve on a WA-based association board if it works out.

Thank you very much, and please let me know how I could return the favor!

Welcome!
There's a fairly active Area VII Adult Riders Group of the USEA. Also, check out Flying Changes magazine:

http://www.flyingchanges.com/

It has a good listing of boarding opportunities all over the Oregon/Washington area.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

Thank you! I'd completely forgotten that I'd posted this! I've looked at Flying Changes, but now I've "liked" the forum Facebook page too! Thanks again!
