Re: Ankle sprains
Cheryl, bummer re your ankle, sounds like I got off lightly compared to what happened to you. Swelling for 3 mos?? Yikes! I tried driving my stickshift car for a couple after the sprain, then realized it was aggravating the ankle, so I swapped cars w/one of my brothers and have an automatic for another week or so. That's made a big difference! Duh!
Got the green lite from my doctor to start riding again as of Dec. 1. Weird thing is, he said physical therapy, other than writing the alphabet, wasn't necessary. Hmmm. I'm a great believer in PT, so I downloaded some ankle sprain exercise and am going to start doing those.

Mary K, How's the recovery going? Have you been visiting your riding horses?

MaryK, How's your recovery going? Wondering if you're back to dressage lessons yet and what you're working on?

Re: Ankle sprains
Hi Joan et al.,
Well, the ole ankle just isn't healing as quickly as I'd hoped. Yup, can ride, must ice and take ibu afterwards. Can't walk down stairs w/o discomfort yet, or stand on my tiptoes, and it's still swollen. Thanks for asking!
Dressage is amazing. It is So Hard, getting both hands and both legs doing what they're supposed to do while paying attention to corners, stuff like that. My trainer is pretty good at explaining things and is very patient with me--I ask a lot of questions and tend to think too much. You know how your brain just cramps up sometimes? Had one of those moments today, and all we were doing was keeping the bend going while changing directions. *sigh* Oh well. I love it, when it isn't boggling my mind!
Unfortunately two of the horses at the barn are going to be put down this week, one due to a neurological issue (age 18), the other to crippling arthritis (age 27). People were coming out to say goodbye to them today, it was touching to see. Sad, because to look at them out in their paddocks you wouldn't know anything was wrong with them.
Bye,
Mary
