I don't know Josephine County. Is anyone near this or heard more details?

I saw this on Facebook over the weekend.

Photos are at www.liska-auctioneers.com, click on the December 8th auction link. There are some rough-looking little guys there, but probably none that won't clean up nice with proper care.

Thanks, Rngovvet. Sounds like it's the Grants Pass area?

Yes - that's where the fairgrounds are where the auction will be held.

From: Grace - the little horse with the big spirit (Strawberry Mountain Mustangs FaceBook page)

MINIATURE HORSE AUCTION - On Sept. 14th over two hundred animals were seized in Cave Junction from an animal hoarder. Among these were 177 Miniature horses. On Saturday, Dec. 8th, all 177 of these "Mini's" will be sold at public auction. The auction will be held at 10:00 am at the Josephine County Fairgrounds. The county will be offering a "Preview" on Dec. 7th from 1 - 4 at the fairgrounds. More information about the auction and the horses being sold will be put on the internet site of Wayne Liska, who will be conducting the auction http://www.liska-auctioneers.com. All buyers will need to bring halters and lead ropes. Please share and help get the word out so all of these little guys can get homes!!!

Some of them are pretty cute with some really cool colors. There's a green eyed one that's probably a champagne and some unusual pintos. I would be very worried about dwarfism though. There is no test in the US for it and it's very prevelant (sp?) in Minis. They like to hide OLWS, too.

Wow - poor babies. It looked like some of those little guys really had to be manhandled to get a photo :( I could only get through a few of them, it just gets too sad. I don't understand people...

There are three cute jennets up for auction as well.

There are some really nice-looking ones. The skinny grey early on is a 20 year old male, probably bad teeth or low-man in the pecking order. There are a few with bad eyes, but some look really good, and some look like a parasite and nutrition program upgrade would fix them right up.

I brought one of these minis home. They went way higher than I expected they would, but this little yearling grabbed me. Here he is in the sale pen:

And here he is settling in at home:

I named him Brokk - from Norse mythology, a little person who made magical objects for the gods, ie: Thor's hammer. After carefully calculating his diet, his bloated belly is already going down.
