The Washington State Animal Response Team (WASART) is a non-profit volunteer organization, created to serve as a unifying network that supports animal disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and sheltering efforts directed at helping animals affected by emergencies. Come learn from Cathy Reaney, WASART’s Training Director about their program, how you can get involved, and how to prepare in advance to “shelter in place” or be prepared to evacuate with your pets and livestock. You will receive instructions for preparing a “Go Bag” for your household pets a s well as instructions for getting your livestock ready to be moved. Come learn how to ride gaited horses! Learn to develop a better relationship with your horse to become more relaxed, willing, and trusting. You will learn resistance free ground and under saddle techniques to help improve your horse's gait from the trot or pace, and to give clear cues using your hands and legs. There will be individual time with each horse and rider evaluating the gait, and recommendations to help improve it.

Rick is an examiner for the Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association and is experienced and trained in equine reproduction, shoeing, bitting and saddle fitting. He supports natural sound horses and does not use mechanical or artificial devices (heavy shoes, chains, chemicals, etc.) to enhance gait.
