Re: What are best fly masks, fly sheets?

Hi

I wanted to join in on this topic. My horse is allergic to the midge/noseeums/gnats, actually has had reactions to them. I had bought and tried alot of fly sprays, a bug buster fly sheet etc....But what I use now are ShooTags! They are tags that my horse wears that a chemical free protection from biting insects. They have saved my horse and my wallet from vet calls. The Shootags are not a 100% effective but dang near, I would say 85%. I am very impressed with them and don't have to cake the Swat (chemicals) on my horse's underside anymore. I simply braid them into the underside of my horse's mane and forget about them for about 4 months. My horse is wearing the horse Midge,Fly and Mosquito tags. Plus ShooTags offer a tick tag. They also make tags for dogs, cats and humans. I still use some natural fly sprays but I think it is more for my peace of mind then for my horse.
How does shoo!TAG™ work?
Using a proprietary process, shoo!TAG™ assists the wearer by adding to its external bio-energetic field with specific frequencies proven to disturb targeted pests and create a barrier. Here is a link to them http://www.genuineshootag.com

I hope this is helpful to other horse owners who have suffering horses, as mine was. Give them a try, you may also become a fan of the little ShooTags.

Hi Martha,
I used ShooTags for two years. It seemed to repel flies from the side the tag was hanging on. But there often were flies on the other side of the horse. Also, we had trouble keeping them from being pulled out of the manes. I'm all for chemical-free solutions, though. :D

Unfortunately, I found Cody like this on a couple of days with his new Weatherbeeta sheet. Apparently the way the neck piece comes attached is not the proper way to wear it. I finally figured out how to secure it.

The flies have been bugging the horses on the trails so I bought a couple of ear nets. Grace seemed to find peace with her new hat even thought I don't believe it's offical western attire.

A closer view of Grace's new ear net, so you can see my favorite part -- the purple! It was suggested that Mike get a pair of purple chaps so he'll match. :D
