Changing the subject!

Postby Grandma Lynn on Sat Jul 28, 2012 7:55 pm

Rave: Saw on a video the easiest way to
cook corn. Put it in the microwave with all
the husk on. Microwave for 8 min. Using hot
pads, remove and cut the end off ( the one
that was attached to the stock) about 2 in.
Hold it upright and shake it and you have
a beautiful, clean ear of corn.

Comes out slick. I didn't think it would work,
even tho I saw the fellow do it. No other way
to do corn. On high.....I don't know how many
you could do at once, but if you need only a
couple.....

A friend of mine cooked it that way a couple days ago. It was the best. Not one hair was left on the cob. Came out sweet and perfect! I will always do mine that way from now on...

You can do that using saran wrap I can only imagine the husk used the same way to prevent the moisture from escaping and drying out. I don't know if you tried putting saran wrap over potatoes but that works also.

Yes, saran wrap works, but after reading
more than once that it's not good for your
food, I don't use it. For covering food I use
the good old wax paper, or paper towel for
breads....
I guess it contains a form of poison that leaks
out....but wax paper works for corn too, but
I dare you to try this method. I want to know
your opinion....
Good buy at Fred Meyers on corn this week too.

I go to Fred Meyers all the time, ill have to give it a try.
Yeah, I've been thinking about that 'cause sometimes ill freeze my bottles of Gatorade or whatever n' put it in the microwave 'cause then it'll melt real fast. So my concerns are if when I microwave the drinks it releases some plastic chemical that'll be bad for you. It's also the same whenever I need to boil water in the microwave using anything that isn't real glass.

We live and learn, and I'm still learning!

Think of all the baby bottles that are plastic.
I sterilized the glass baby bottles every use.
Didn't mind it, it's what we did....
And changing the subject, kind of, I had
stacks of cotton baby diapers to wash and
usually, if nice weather, hang out. I had
twins, so you can imagine. With the plastic
diapers you can go a long time without
changing the poor baby!
And don't forget to fold the diapers and
stack them...
