Local Ghost Towns?

Postby mafeki on Tue Jan 22, 2013 6:19 pm

I just did a quick local search on ghost towns locally and found this site.

http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/wa/wa.html

It would appear there were quite a bit of abandon towns, anyone interested in visiting these, or find it interesting?

Monte Cristo, out passed Granite Falls, is pretty cool. It's a four mile hike up the trail, and then around the ruins of the old mill town, but it's a great weekend trip. There's a camp ground at the top, plus a few homes of year round residents. I strongly suggest hiking the easy, one mile trail to the big four ice caves too. Just please, don't go IN the caves! They're dangerous and crumbling. It's posted everywhere, but people still go in. Then when they get hurt, they try to sue the state. Sheesh. Big Four Mountain is a few miles before the trail head for Monte Cristo.
Any way, the ice caves is a great day trip. The best time to see them is late July thru September. We did Monte Cristo in late June. It's A LOT of hiking, and our butts were sore, but it was worth it!

Hey the photos of that place look great thanks. Hiking sounds like fun I've been sorta looking for some good bike trails.
I don't really understand why people think it'd be the states fault for them getting hurt into a cave heh but doesn't surprise me.
