Just A Thought
Why does it always take a tragedy of unspeakable horror to bring us together as a nation?

Can't really answer this question I'd need more time to think about it to have a opinion about it but to add on.
Why does it take a Holiday to spend time with your family?
I guess perhaps if this question was synonymous with yours, which I do think it's related perhaps we're all just too busy, preoccupied with other things when finally that holiday comes we make time. kinda like how something tragic like a shooting happens we stop and think and make time.

Maybe it's because we stop thinking about
ourselves!
Holiday's families gather, if they can. I like
to see relatives anytime, especially one on
one, so you can really have a good personal
talk.

Re: Just A Thought
Both answers are good. I was thinking along the same lines. We are so overly concerned about the "I" phobia that we can't see the "we" at all. It is just too bad that it takes a 9-11 or the murder of children or a mall shooting, and on and on to bring us together. The togetherness lasts for a few weeks, and then it goes away. Please, let us not forget, ever. Like the Jews said after Hitler butchered millions of their family and friends-"We will not forget"

I hope you are right Glen. It's past time to bring common sense in to this.

I am probably wrong. I was watching several of the new channels this morning, and coverage is already starting to wane. We need to keep this story alive for a long, long time.

I think that all of these answers are good one's. I think when we look at the heart broken family members and the little survivors crying....we are so thankful that our children/grandchildren aren't one of the dead. Of course we mourn with the parents, losing their children and feel so helpless. I think that most of us feel helpless and we are all thinking basically the same. Get these assault weapons OFF the market. They are good weapons for war, but do no good for the general public! I like guns, I have a couple and can't think of any reason for an assualt weapon.

That's true Iodine, but weapons aren't
the only thing that's causing these killings.
It's the person doing the crime. I agree,
this fellow had easy access to the guns,
and that's one problem.
Seems we are going to have tighter laws
on purchasing guns. I just hope these
regulations will actually help.
Just don't try and take all guns away.
That's stupid and illegal, tho I know laws
can be changed.

Re: Just A Thought
No one is even remotely suggesting to get rid of all guns. Yes, it is people who kill people, and last night a few miles from where i live a husband stabbed his pregnant wife to death. it is however, much harder to kill numerous people with a knife or a sling shot than it is with a repeating weapon. That is what we are talking about, not guns in general, but the kind of guns that can fire off numerous rounds in a minute, killing masses of people.

I've heard people saying that we don't
need guns, period. Of course these
people are idiots!
I know we are talking about certain
guns. Who needs them, really!
Not the average citizen.
I feel it's a good start. I am not
really knowledgeable as far as
types of guns tho. I leave that
to the experts, like Biden!!
