I remember a family vacation in the early 70's when my dad pulled into a gas station and then pulled right back out becase their prices were too high. I remember looking at the pump and seeing 39 and 9/10. That started a long conversation about ........... "how can they charge 9 tenths of a cent"

Are you stupid enough to believe the government sets the price of gas? Really? Are you that stupid? Do any of you understand why rationing was needed at that time? Apparently not! It's Pearl Harbor Day! Dingbats! Think!!!!

Yes, the 9 10ths of a cent. I think every kid who watched the dials turn and the price get posted on the elevated reader board asked the same question. Invariably mom or dad didn't know either.
