Why???

Why is it, you put away your Christmas lights,
all working. Then you get them out next year
and some don't work?

What's your why?

I'm wondering about all those people who never take their outside lights down. How come they seem to work?

Maybe it's because they leave them
up and don't mess with them..
But the weather should do damage!
And it looks crummy.

Exactly. It's called built-in obsolescence, or planned obsolescence.
Such things are not meant to be durable or last long so that you have to buy them again.
