Ha! But even prunes have a reason
to be here. And he could be dangerous
to tangle with....you know, too many
prunes can........

Yeah, it seems like people either hate or love Sheriff Joe Arpaio. He just won his 6th term but only got 53% of the vote. This is way off his normal margins. I lived in AZ (North Scottsdale) for a period of time. I've never seen so many charges against him or him investigating city supervisors, etc.... It dominated the news down there every week.

It might surprise you, but he was not all the hot on SB 1070. Not because of the confusing wording on what officers can and can not do during a stop, but he did not like the fact that he would be required to turn folks over to ICE. I guess in some cases ICE turns immigration violators back on the streets, where Sheriff Joe would do the deporting himself.

Anyways, SB 1070 was possibly an overreaction to our immagration problems. Even if SB 1070 was fully inacted, it really doesn't change anything. Police and immigration officials have all the laws they need to work on this issue.

Most folks that like and support SB1070, are showing there frustration with the current situation. I would relate it to the South Park episode where all the town's people are screaming "The took'r (our) jobs". Most of the folks that don't like SB1070, said they didn't like it, but admitted that they had never read it. Our president was part of that side of the issue. Please, don't tell us you don't like something and then tell us you haven't read it yet. At least he was being open and honest with us, but not what I want to hear. Of course, he wasn't the only person that said that.

Also, here is my advice to folks visiting my old North Scottsdale area or "Sheriff Joe Country". Drive the speed limit, don't drink and drive and keep your passport and drivers license on you at all times. If you get pulled over without these items, you may end up in Guatemala, or worse. Just ask Charles Barkley and others.

My (attempted) none partisan two cents worth. Take care.
