However, stock prices are not the only thing taking a hit. It appears that the job market is also suffering. In the last 48 hours, the following major corporations have announced layoffs in America (links take you to news stories about the layoffs – with details from the companies):

Poor little B O.....can't blame Bush anymore. Here in medical alley (minneapolis) we're blacing for a bad one, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and St Jude med laying off....not to mention a host of smaller meds doing the same. China is going to receive more med device manufacturing because O care has a 2.5% tax on GROSS EARNINGS. That equates to a tax on profits upwards of 50%. ....its how we arrive at 'outsourcing'....tax production until it leaves.

Congradulations Obama voters....the race to the bottom has entered its second leg.

Murry Coal layed off 163 miners because Obama won. Now, please tell me what happened from election night to Friday in the coal industry to cause this to happen? Blame it on Obama? I think not! Some CEOs are taking it out on the worker, as usual to attempt to make this look like the president's fault. Mad that Romney won't now be able to grease their way to more dirty profit! Yes, taking it out on the working person seems to be the best course don't ya think?

It is striclty political, and it is sick.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- A coal company headed by a prominent Mitt Romney donor has laid off more than 160 workers in response to President Obama's election victory.

Murray Energy said Friday that it had been "forced" to make the layoffs in response to the bleak prospects for the coal industry during Obama's second term. In a prayer circulated by the company, CEO Robert Murray said Americans had voted "in favor of redistribution, national weakness and reduced standard of living and lower and lower levels of personal freedom."

"The American people have made their choice. They have decided that America must change its course, away from the principals [sic] of our Founders," Murray said in the prayer, which was delivered in a meeting with staff members earlier this week.

No melvin, it's people! That same company was responsible for the deaths of 9 miners and only paid a few million in fines! Murry is only one of several companies (most have NOTHING to do with coal) who are using the 4th quarter and knee jerk reaction to make the news. In the end, as always, the person simply trying to put food on the table is the victim.

I remember freight trains fueled by coal.
Realize that it's long ago and times have
changed. Pollution, etc.
Why are we then sending coal to China,
so they can pollute and have nice warm
heat also?
We had a wood and coal range (I still have
it and it works) that use to produce the
warmest heat. And if you cooked on it,
coal would keep it at a steady heat. At
nighttime, if it was freezing outside, coal
would be used to slowly burn all nite.
Sorry, I had to put a good word in for coal.
Cheaper than electricity and oil.....
