I don't think being able to have coitus should have any bearing on someone's legal right to marry. If you want to call them something else, you are free too. But I think that same sex couples and castrated men, and any women who can't perform sexually should be allowed to be civilly married. And we can still call it marriage.

abraham lincoln wrote:People should not be forced to accept homosexuality as equal to, and similar to heterosexuality.

I whole heartedly agree, and thankfully no such thing is being planned on happening. When we have the freedom to marry for same sex couples, nobody has to accept heterosexuality and homosexuality are equal, or that interracial marriage and same race marriage are equal, or that fertility and infertility are equal, or that Britney Spears' marriage is equal to Barack Obama's.

abraham lincoln wrote:If fellatio and sodomy were the same as coitus they wouldn't need different words.

And they have different words, which is fine, and all fall under the definition of sex. But we really should not be talking about sex, this is about marriage.

abraham lincoln wrote:Defining oneself as "gay", and claiming god made me this way, is merely a copout to enjoying aberrant sex.

No more than defining oneself as "straight," and claiming god made me this way, is a cop out to enjoying either conforming or aberrant sex.

abraham lincoln wrote:Ever wonder why those who engage in child sex don't use the god made me this way argument?

Because God doesn't make people violate or molest children against their will or cannot consent. Quite obvious.

abraham lincoln wrote:Ever wonder why half of all gay men are married to women?

Because we grow up in a heterocentric world, where homosexuality is not as accepted as heterosexuality, and many take a while to figure out that they are homosexual. My partner, for instance, grew up in Indiana, and got married to a woman because that's what you do. When he finally accepted he was attracted to men, and understood his sexual orientation, and he shared that, she divorced him.

abraham lincoln wrote:Engage in whatever forms of sex you wish, just don't try to force me to approve.

Nobody is forcing you, nor has ever forced you, nor ever will. That's not possible.

We should be able to engage in marriage if we wish as well, and you won't be forced to approve of any marriage between any couple.

Unlike the self serving, chest pounding, mindless minons here... I voted in for same sex marriage. It's none of my business who decides to love and none of anyone elses. No different then a Catholic marrying a Jew or a black marrying a white. There are minds here too involved in the bedroom with their own sick fantasies demanding to decide how others live. Shame, shame on all of you!

So after reading the above, one could only ascertain that "Abraham Lincoln's " understanding of marriage is that of being wholly sexual in terms of what defines it. Tab A into slot B. that's it. That's all. Brother. No wonder Mrs. Lincoln is depressed.

Abe said what I've said many times.
Just don't call it "marriage"
That's for a man and a woman, and
why try to change It?
They can certainly be together, as
I think they don't just "cope out", because
if they feel this way, that's the way they
were born. No cope out.
Hadn't thought of the word "nuptials",
but that might work.
It just might get other people who don't
like the word marriage applied to gays,
vote yes for them. I don't know.
Yes, I believe Type A into slot B is one
way to describe man and woman, a little
crude.......

It isn't up to you what it will be called. Your horse and buggy attitude is out dated. Live and let live. None of your damned business! Especially when people like you promote small government! Really now!!!

I didn't say it was "up to me" what
it should be called. I'm just trying
to help get this law passed with a
name everybody would agree to!

And what's small gov't got to do with
it?

Maybe we'd better go back to some
of the "horse and buggy" days.
These days haven't been that great.
Stop cussing! (I get no respect)

Because it should be for people regardless of gender. And why not? It's what we use, so let it be what we use. Dictionary's already caught up.

Not possible. Anti-gay people will object to anything that doesn't somehow signify that opposite sex relationships are superior. Equality people will object to separate but equal.

Grandma Lynn wrote:And what's small gov't got to do with it?

Small gov't wouldn't be getting into what gender people marry to say whether it should be marriage or not.

Speak for yourself. I would have been killed long ago if this were the horse and buggy days.

We will see tomorrow what happens.
Civil ceremony seems just right for
a title of commitment between gays.
I even dislike the name "gays"....
why even have that?
Certainly that makes gays stand out
as different. Or do they like that title?

Now we are seeing and it isn't what you prefer. If this passes, as it should, I would hope all of our citizens will be treated with the respect we expect for ourselves!
