Motorcycles
Why do the riders of motorcycles think they have to wear dark colored clothes? While they might think it looks cool to wear black ... not being seen will get you killed. Cycles are already at the mercy of cars because of their size & not being able to see them. Why add to the problem? Make yourself seen & increase of chances of avoiding a wreck. While being highly visable won't solve all the situations a rider runs into during the ride ... it will sure go a long way in helping it.

It doesn't seem to matter. I wear bright yellow, and the guy that hit me still said he didn't see me. The worst part about it was the police didn't even cite him (even though he admitted he didn't see me).

Well what would they cite him for? It's an accident...

Welll ... i think it is safe to say they is just as liable hitting a bike, than if they hit a car ... its negligence on their part if they were changing lanes, turning, passing .. whatever. Its NOT the bikers fault because the driver "didnt see him" ... i no matter how small of a visual the biker is.

Re: Motorcycles
The tradition of black leather started from the beginning of motorcycling because the machines leaked oil and threw chain grease. Leather was the best protection from road rash.

Re: Motorcycles
There are very few traffic ACCIDENTS. Most are caused by bad driving and most are intentional - following to close and unsafe lane changes. It isn't by accident that most freeway traffic goes 5 mph over the speed limit minimum.

Re: Motorcycles?
There have been a lot of similar questions to this one, but I am interested in buying a motorcycle, however from what i've heard the insurance for motorcycles is expensive.
